Impression of a woman figure, 2015

Drawn from work created during g39’s Unit(e) programme, film is used to reinterpret the artist’s project archives into a comment on the misconception of gender roles in the 21st century. Using archival materials as starting points for moving image sketches, the images form new challenges or meanings, in turn creating new subject matters and responses. Impression of Woman figure confronts gendered stereotypes and the often outdated impressions of women we see within the media today. Considering how much truth lies behind the stereotypes and whether false representations of female roles imposes behavioural assumptions or boundaries on the gender.
